Birthday parties
Birthdays have changed!
A birthday party at HangDog is a great idea.
You can come in and have a great time.
However, we no longer offer the birthday packages as we used to.
Now you can come in as a regular group booking.
Children Under 10
Due to safety concerns, children under 10 are not allowed in ANY of the bouldering areas anymore.
The age limit for the large bouldering room is still 13.
Bouldering is low height climbing with no ropes.
Children under 10 can still climb in the high roped area.
This rule change happened at the start of September 2023.
Max Group Size
For a birthday group with children, we have a general maximum of 3 adults and 9 children.
For groups with of a different size or age, please contact us via email info@hangdog.co.nz
When
We take bookings on the hour.
Food and the Mezzanine FloorYou can book the small mezzanine floor for 1.5 hours. The time starts when you arrive.
The mezzanine floor has a small table and a few chairs. This enables you to have a "home base" and a place to have bags etc. You can bring a small amount of snacks for your group. Please keep the mezzanine tidy for the next group.
This costs an extra $25.
ClothingPeople get hot while climbing so the climbers will need layers to strip off as they warm up. The gym is large and difficult to heat so belayers (adults holding the safety rope) may wish to dress warmly.
We recommend hiring climbing shoes for an extra $3.
AgeHangdog was made for adults but all ages love it.
The crash pads are very dangerous, therefore children under the age of 10 are not allowed on the crash pads, even when there are no other people. This rule changed in September 2023.
Adult SupervisionTo belay (hold the safety rope) at HangDog a person needs to be 13 or older. You'll need about one belayer per 2 or 3 children under 13.
