Top Rope Belay License
If you don't have a Top Rope Belay License then you need to make a booking for a Supervised Safety Briefing in order to climb at HangDog. If you do have a current license then you don't need a booking and can come in when ever you like.
How to get your license
To get your license you must have belayed at least once with a Grigri (anywhere) within the last 2 months. And then you must attend a HangDog Supervised Safety Briefing.
How long does the license last?
The license never expires as long as you use it. If you don't climb (anywhere), using a Grigri, for more than 2 months you'll need to attend another HangDog Supervised Safety Briefing.
Really experienced?
You still need to book a lesson on the hour. BUT, show your skills to the instructor and explain your experience and the instructor may choose to pass you quickly, probably takes about 15 minutes. The requirements are not set in stone. One person with loads of experience may be a poor belayer and another beginner may be excellent. With that in mind, our instructors have flexibility in what they accept based on the person's ability.
